FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be FALSE.

Doing a Reverse Image Search of keyframes from the video, we were directed to a Pinterest Video in which a man can be seen sitting on a chair of a flying aircraft with a drink. We noticed that the video was watermarked “Huy Qun Hoa”.

Taking a cue from this, we found the viral video uploaded on the Facebook page of “Huy Xuân Mai” on August 17, 2020. The ‘About’ section reveals that man is skilled in photo editing. Caption of the video translates to, “Experience the reclining seats of Vietnam”.

Searching further, we found Mai’s YouTube channel. We can see the viral video uploaded on December 17, 2020, along with other similarly edited videos.

More searches led us to many Vietnam news articles that defined Mai as the “God of Photoshop.” The article, published in December 2020, also talks about Mai’s aeroplane videos and how they had gone viral on social media.

Thus, it is evident from the above information that a digitally altered video is being shared as an Afghan man trying to escape the country by clinging on to an aeroplane.
