A post stating that a particular page has been purportedly identified by Facebook for violating copyright issues and thus the user needs to click the link and verify themselves for security reasons has gone viral. The post further says that if they do not click the link then they will automatically be blocked from Facebook.
The post reads, “Your page has been detected for activity that goes against Facebook Page Policies regarding copyright infringement. For security reasons, verify your account by clicking the link below: Follow the link below: http://reconfirm-accountpage.my.id/?page-verifications If you don’t confirm, our system will automatically block your Facebook account and you won’t be able to use it anymore. Thank you for helping to improve our services. Social Company Facebook Fior De Bior Officiel Best Regards Facebook © 2021.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be fake.
Different posts have different website addresses. However, clicking either of the links mentioned led us to a website that was tagged suspicious by Google. On clicking the links, a warning was mentioned which called the sites ‘deceptive’.
To get confirmation about the post, we also reached out to Facebook, and they confirmed to NewsMobile that the link is suspicious and asked us against clicking on it.
“Thank you for reaching out. The link you have shared seems to be a suspicious activity, so please do not click on the link. We are looking into the notification,” Facebook said.
