FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be fake.

We searched the web for any such news about the announcement of a week-long nationwide lockdown, but could not find any media reports or official notification. Recently, the Prime Minister also gave a statement that there is no need for a complete lockdown.

Although, there is a week-long lockdown announced in Raipur in Chhattisgarh from 9th to 19th April.

Investigating the above screenshot, we did a keyword search and found out that the two sentences written in the viral screenshot are taken from two different videos of a news channel.

Let’s see the detailed analysis:

First sentence: कल से एक हफ्ते के लिए लगाया जाएगा लॉकडाउन (Translation: Lockdown will be imposed for a week from tomorrow)

This part of the screenshot is taken from the news report shared on ‘TV9 Bharatvarsha’ on April 2, 2021, regarding a week-long night curfew or night lockdown in Pune.

Second sentence: 9 अप्रैल से 19 अप्रैल तक लॉकडाउन लगेगा (Translation: From April 9 to April 19 lockdown will take place)

This sentence is related to the announcement of the lockdown in Raipur. The news bulletin associated with this announcement was posted on the YouTube channel of ‘TV9 Bharatvarsha’ on April 8, 2021. The word “Raipur” has been deliberately removed to make it appear as if the lockdown from April 9-19 has been imposed across the country.

Also, the viral screenshot, using Amit Shah’s photo, can be seen as an attempt to spread the illusion that a week-long lockdown is being imposed by the Central Government across the country.

PIB Fact Check has also refuted this claim and said that the screenshot is fake. It also stated that no such announcement has been made in connection with the lockdown by the Government of India.

Therefore, according to the above information, the screenshot claiming that a week-long nationwide lockdown has been imposed is FAKE.
