With winters comes dry and irritating skin. To see your face redden up and our skin getting flaky is a common phenomenon. This is because of the extremely cold weather and dry winds. Your skin, especially facial skin needs a lot more care. Here are 6 little things you can do to keep your skin healthy, soft and glowing.
MOISTURIZE YOUR FACE IMMEDIATELY AFTER SHOWER
We won’t ask you to bathe from less hot water because genuinely it is so cold. Instead what you can do is moisturize your face immediately. Moreover, whenever you’re just washing your face (like when you’re about to remove your makeup), try using lukewarm water. If your skin is dry, moisturizing before you go to bed can provide significant benefits too. KNOW YOUR MOISTURIZER. There are various types of moisturizers- gel, oil, cream etc. Make sure it is for your skin type.
KEEP YOUR SKIN AND BODY HYDRATED
Hydration can be done in two steps. First, drink a lot of water and eat veggies like cucumber and tomatoes. Watermelons, apples, kiwis and oranges are high in water content too. Eating a balanced diet keeps your skin glowing. Second, use hydrating products depending on your skin type.
HOME REMEDIES TO THE RESCUE
Don’t overlook things available at your place. Use home remedies to enhance your skincare routine. Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids and prevents loss of moisture. Use Glycerin as a natural hydrator. Use face packs like Almond and Milk, masks of Banana and Honey and solutions like of Lemon and Honey.
GIVE EXTRA ATTENTION TO LIPS
Majority of the people’s concern in winters is their drying lips. Use a petroleum jelly 5-6 times a day. Do not let your lips crack. In case they do, treat them right away. Do not lick your lips, it just makes them worse. Apply some lip balm or castor oil. If you’re applying a lipstick, make sure you use a lip conditioner before that.
DON’T LET YOUR HAIR AND SCALP DRY
In winters, change your hair products depending on how your scalp is reacting. Use milk or water based products that don’t let your skin dry. Massage oil on your hair and then wrap it with a hot towel (like they do at the salon).
A SKIN CARE ROUTINE
Last but not the least, HAVE A SKIN CARE ROUTINE. No matter what season it is, following a skin care regimen is the most essential thing. Cleanse, tone, exfoliate and moisturize. If you’re going out in sun- use SPF.
WORD OF ADVICE:
Do not ever neglect your skin type- oily, normal, dry, combination, sensitive etc. Choose your skin care products depending on your skin and weather only.
